We are excited to share what our class is up to, with you!

We have very full, exciting days.  You can use the tabs to the left to find curriculum detail and to access our photo gallery to see what an exciting year we have had so far!

We love nothing better than getting out and about and visiting our local ancient woodland, Ashmeadow, is a highlight.  We regularly visit our 'adopted trees'.  Although unfortunately, due to the 2022 winter storms we lost our beech tree and have had to replace it with another.

Mornings

We always start the day with a 'feelings' registration time, where we all get a chance to express how we are feeling.  This gives Mrs Hartropp and Mrs Adair, a chance to check in with any children, who may have worries on their mind.

After that, it is on to phonics.  We are really lucky to offer a comprehensive streamed phonics programme where every individual is catered for through high quality delivery of our Twinkl, systematic, synthetic phonics programme.

We then enjoy a morning of White Rose Maths followed by a chance to take a break, eat some fruit and play with our friends.

We continue our morning with English, where we work hard with listening, speaking, reading and writing.  It is a lot to fit in before a well deserved lunch break.

Note: On Wednesdays we go to St James for School Church.  We are lucky to have Father Andrew, Rev Hannah and Mr Service, lead this worship.

Afternoons

Our afternoons are spent on science, foundation subjects and PE lessons.

We change our reading books daily so we need to be super organised and bring our bookbag every day.  We also always bring a water bottle and our coats.  The weather is changeable and our children play out in all types of weather.

We take home spelling and reading everyday and the Year 1 and 2 children are encouraged to make good use of the 'one minute White Rose Maths app' or 'Top Marks' number bond games, such as 'Hit the Button'.  Times Table Rockstars encourage our Year 2s to start learning their times tables and the children also enjoy accessing our Purple Mash school platform, with '2 do' challenges set.
